Craig-y-Nos Country Park was formerly the extensive private grounds of Craig-y-Nos Castle. The grounds have now been opened up to the public and provide ample car parking and a visitor centre. Click the picture on the right to take a tour of both the castle and the park. 50 pictures |

Castle Gardens and Grounds
Craig-y-Nos Castle was the imposing home of the famous opera star Adelina Patti and it is now largely restored to its former glory which, set against the backdrop of the park, makes it the ideal base for walkers, photographers, and other visitors to the area. 40 pictures |

The Castle is in the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area specially designated for its outstanding natural beauty. The region is ideal for walking and other outdoor activities, or for just relaxing. Some of the original grounds of Craig-y-Nos Castle have now been taken over by Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and designated as Craig-y-Nos Country Park. There are good paths and marvellous walks in the park, which is bounded by a great craggy outcrop over which Red Kites are a common sight. 50 pictures |

Patti Theatre
Built by Adelina Patti to enable her to entertain her guests, the Patti Theatre is one of the few remaining examples of a Victorian theatre to still have the original, and functional, back-stage equipment. Modelled on the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane London it has the names of famous composers inscribed on in its ornate mouldings. 7 pictures |

Adelina Patti was the World's first mega star. No performer has since earned, in equivalent terms, what she was receiving for her tours of the USA at the beginning of the twentieth century. After Queen Victoria she was probably the best known woman on Earth at the time. 20 pictures |
